EOI called for an inland port at Enfield

Sydney Ports Corporation has called for expressions of interest from engineering consulting firms to assist with the design delivery of its $200 million plus Intermodal Logistics Centre, at Enfield. The aim of the centre, commonly called an inland port, is to help move containers onto rail. Some 85 per cent of the goods moved through Sydney Ports are packed and unpacked within metropolitan Sydney. At present, 21 per cent of these products are transported by rail. The target is to move 40 per cent of containers by rail to and from Port Botany. A significant proportion of these containers service the needs of inner and middle-western Sydney, which is the destination for between 50 to 60 per cent of all container imports and the source of up to 30 per cent of all container exports
