Region. Drug makers in takeover talks

Pfizer, the world’s biggest drug maker is negotiating a $104 billion takeover of Wyeth, the world’s third-largest biotechnology company. Each company has facilities in West Ryde and Norwest Business Park, respectively. Should the acquisition go ahead it would be the largest in the pharmaceutical industry in almost five years. Pfizer will shed 19,000 workers when it completes the takeover.
