The OFIS outlet in Auburn is one of Harvey Norman’s five office supply stores which will be closed before the end of June. When launched less than a year ago, the plan was to open 100 stores over the next 5-10 years. Executive chairman, Gerry Harvey, said the operation was losing too much, too fast to continue operating in the economic climate. “We are going to loose $7 million to $8 million in this six months ... the sales we were writing were not in a bull’s roar of where we wanted to be,” he said in The Australian Financial Review. OFIS was established to take on Officeworks.
