'Region. Clubs to merge

The Campbelltown RSL has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cabramatta Diggers Club. The merger could be approved on March 22. bringing together a total membership of 43,000. Campbelltown RSL has assets worth $42 million but debts of $6.4 million. “We had to do something and we had to do it fast,’said club president, Elwyn Spencer. Mounties and Harboard Diggers amalgamated two years ago. The Parramatta and Castle Hill RSLs merged in 2008. The Sunday Telegraph noted other clubs needing an “urgent” lifeline included Windsor and District RSL Cvlub and the Croation Club in St Johns Park
