Smithfield. PBL cancels project

PBL Media has abandoned a plan to build a $150 million printing and distribution centres, at Smithfield, for its ACP Magazines, after spending more than 18 months looking for sites and talking to foreign printing-equipment suppliers. PBL lodged an environmental assessment document with the Department of Planning, which said the proposed facility would cost $15 million to alter the existing building, and plant and equipment would cost between $135 million and $200 million.
