Region President to run for secretary's job

Alison McLaren, a Labor councillor from the Blue Mountains and president of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC), which covers 1.9 million people, will announce her intention to stand for the job of Labor Party national secretary, arguing the party has lost touch with Australians who live in the burgeoning outer suburbs. Labor lost 11 seats in the greater west at the March 26 election.
