Westmead. Redesigned laboratory opened
The Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Jillian Skinner, and the Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee, opened the redesigned Electron Microscope Laboratory at Westmead Hospital’s Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research (ICPMR). The minister said the laboratory will particularly benefit people with conditions like kidney disease, unusual tumors and some respiratory disorders. “There are currently 30 registered researchers from 14 research groups on the Westmead Hospital Campus who use electron microscopy at different stages of their research projects,” said Professor Tony Cunningham, executive director of the WMI and chair of the Westmead Research Hub Executive. The Electron Microscope Laboratory is a joint project of the ICPMR and the Westmead Research Hub.
