Bankstown. Another bid for aviation hub

Bankstown Airport said it is best placed to absorb some of the demand for smaller regional routes with lower-capacity aircraft and that such relocation to the airport would greatly benefit the economy, in its 22-page submission to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. The airport’s operator has urged the government to reconsider to rule out the airport as Sydney’s second aviation hub. The airport has held talks with Tiger Airways, Virgin Blue and QantasLink and has examined a $40 million upgrade of its terminal, parking areas and runway.
