Region.Award-winning program closed

The news that the Western Sydney Young Women’s Leadership Program has received a commendation in the 2008 National Local Government Awards just as it is closing is “bittersweet”, according to Toy Hay, president, of WSROC. Over the last three years more than 110 young women from the region have participated in the program. The program received a commendation in the Increasing Women’s Participation category. Despite the program becoming a best practice model it is closing due to a lack of funding, Mr Hay said. WSROC has launched the Young Women’s Leadership Program Resource Kit to enable young women to pursue leadership roles.
