Bankstown. Aerospace firms collaborate

Thirty representatives of firms in the aerospace industry have taken the first step to collaborate in tendering for major projects, which are being lost interstate because the NSW industry is fragmented. The Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board held a seminar at Bankstown City Council Chambers with the aim of bringing the industry together and identifying firms’ capabilities. Greater Western Sydney is home to a large range of innovative, specialist and high-tech aerospace and defence companies servicing the domestic and overseas markets. NSW accounts for over half the Australian aircraft manufacturing industry’s sales and service income. The state’s two-way trade in aerospace products topped $1.3 billion in 2006–07.
