Region. Plight of community television
The Australian Community Television Alliance secretary, Laurie Patton, CEO, of TVS Sydney, based at UWS in Penrith, said the Federal Government's latest Digital Tracker Survey results has highlighted the plight of community television which is currently marooned on analogue and awaiting the allocation of digital spectrum. As more and more community television viewers switch to digital, the financial viability of the community television is put at risk. In order to survive some stations are already looking at cutting back on operating expenses with the potential for job losses and program cuts. Even if the Government allocated us the necessary spectrum immediately it would be some time next year before digital transmissions could begin. The longer they take the more difficult things will become for community television stations, he said.

Well, if you all really knew how to manage, market and operate a community television station, you would have built up a "DEDICATED" audience a long time ago. Since most people did switch to a digital set top box shows no loyalty in them being members or community supporters all the CTV stations, which means that you have not been directly engaging with your audience. Loyalty only derives from relationship building and engagement. There you will find true loyal members who would have waited for a while. Don't be so dependant on the federal government to act so quickly to support such a community inactive service just for you to continue, but seek the support from the local community and maybe the federal government might act faster if it had a majority of your public's voice; and don't scue the numbers like you've done in your license applications. I never saw any proper public surveys asking for public comment, so your surveys had to have doctored. You fooled the federal government, but you can't fool the public.
