Region. Top award for woman lawyer

The Women Lawyers Association of NSW has named UWS graduate, Anny Slater, the state’s top Woman Lawyer of the Year in Private Practice. She established Slaters Intellectual Property Lawyers, in 2001. In 2008 the practice was named Best Enterprise at the Australian Business Awards. She is also the MD of the entertainment company, Moondance Pictures, which has a production deal with Sony Pictures International. A 2002 graduate of the Master of Arts (Screenwriting), Ms Slater has recently been asked by Oscar winner, Michael Moore, to teach at his new school, a role she also filled at Yale University in 2005. Ms Slater is also an active member in the Law Society's "shadowing program" for Indigenous students, and was last year placed on the NSW Government's honour roll for her outstanding achievements in law, arts and community service.
