Moorebank. $71 million for freight terminal

$71 million has been allocated in the federal budget to complete the detailed planning on the Moorebank intermodal terminal project. The staged development is expected to start in 2013, with a completion date by 2016,subject to final approval. The Department of Defence would be given $32.5 million over the next two years to work on moving the School of Military Engineering, on the site, to barracks at nearby Holsworthy by 2015. The money comes out of $300 million already allocated for the development of the terminal to improve the flow of international and domestic trade, expanding freight-handling capacity in Sydney and alleviating congestion around Port Botany.
