Blacktown. Council supports UWS students

Blacktown City Council has provided scholarships for three of the University of Western Sydney’s medical students. "UWS, in partnership with Sydney West Area Health Service and the council, is creating the key education infrastructure at the Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospital which will be a base for medical, nursing and health science students, academics and research staff,” said UWS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janice Reid. The Clinical School and Education Centre would provide an “excellent opportunity” to transform the Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospital into a teaching facility and to add depth to its services, she said. The facility would become one of the key sites where students from the UWS School of Medicine would work with clinicians, patients and the local community to gain field experience and on-the-job training
