Sydney Olympic Park. Supercars boost economy

NSW State Development Minister, Ian Macdonald, said the benefits of the Sydney Telstra V8 Supercars 500, at Sydney Olympic Park, include an additional 30,000 hotel visitors in Sydney each year, an additional $1.1 million directly from payroll taxes generated by the races over the five year period and up to 15,000 interstate and international tourists. The minister said the event would contribute around $100 million to $110 million to the NSW economy over five years.
