Parramatta. Strategies for nighttime economy

A UWS study, The City After Dark, for Parramatta City Council, said council “has yet to seize the opportunity to establish the nightlife (CBD) precinct as a uniquely branded and unified leisure site”. The 44-page study recommended the following strategies for developing Parramatta’s night-time economy, namely, more extensive and considered use of public space after dark, diversification of licensed venues by encouraging a limited number of smaller, more intimate establishments, introduce night-time place making markers to increase perceptions of safety and leisure identity in selected sites such as Church Street Mall and Prince Alfred Park, and develop the leisure/sports nexus more fully in the creation of vibrant night-time culture outside the main sports stadium.
