Crime figures are down in Parramatta

Business owners can breathe a little easier following figures released by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research into thefts from retail outlets and break-and-enter into non-dwelling properties in Parramatta (postcode 2150).


The figures for 2006 (the latest available) show 778 incidents regarding thefts from retail outlets, a decrease of 12.5 per cent in the period 2002-2006. However, Parramatta ranked 5th in NSW. The bureau’s statistics for break-and-enter into non-dwelling properties showed a dramatic reduction of 69.3 per cent, from 982 to 580 incidents, in the same period. The ranking fell from 56 to 80 in NSW

New name for Bendigo Bank

The Bendigo Bank, with branches in the region at Parramatta, Homebush, North Epping and North Ryde, has changed its name to the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Ltd, following the approval of shareholders at an extraordinary meeting, in Bendigo, The friendly $4 million merger of the two institutions was first agreed last September. The bank will release its first half results from the middle of February.
