Kellyville. Block sold for school

The Australian International Academy paid $400,000 more than the reserve to secure a site for a possible Islamic school. The 2-hectare block in Kellyville was auctioned for $2.8million Colliers International on behalf of receivers. Seventy separate bids were lodged during the 45-minute auction.

Region. Academic receives top award

Professor Michael Adams, head, school of law at the University of Western Sydney, has been awarded the Mentor of Teaching Excellence title at the LexisNexis-ALTA Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Teaching of Law. Professor Adams was presented with the award for his dedication to mentoring early career academics and staff to achieve teaching excellence, and for his significant scholarly contributions to the field of corporations law. Now in its third year, the LexisNexis-ALTA Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Teaching of Law showcases some of the best teaching being undertaken in law faculties across the region.

Parramatta. Deputy PM at forum

Deputy Prime Minister, Wayne Swan, will speak at a forum titled, Building a 21st Century Economy to Deliver A Fair Society, jointly hosted by the UWS and the Whitlam Institute, on the Parramatta campus, on Thursday, July 15. Many of the country’s leading economists will make presentations.
