New 4.5-star hotel proposed for Parramatta
A local company, Southern Cross Enterprises Group Pty Ltd, proposes to build a 4.5-star, 59-room hotel as stage 2 of a development on a former church site, on the corner of Church and Palmer streets, in the Parramatta CBD. Stage I of the development was approved last year for the church to become a bar/restaurant. Stage 2 is the proposed construction of a 13-storey, 4.5 hotel on the church hall site at the rear of the church. It is yet to be approved; a social impact assessment has been prepared and is on exhibition. The hotel will contain 13 storeys - levels 1 and 2 for functions etc, 10 for accommodation, and the top level for a cocktail bar, gymnasium and outdoor pool. Parking is for 40 cars. The development will be known as "Heritage Hotel St Peters Circa 1871".
