WiFi network cancelled
The NSW Government’s much-touted WiFi network, which would enable free wireless access to the internet in the CBDs of Sydney, Parramatta, Liverpool, Penrith, Newcastle, Gosford and Wollongong, will not eventuate. The Minister for Commerce, Eric Roozendaal, who said 15 proposals has been submitted to provide the service, blamed the cost of introducing the network and the popularity of Blackberrys and similar handheld devices was challenging the use of WiFi for laptop commuters.
