Penrith. $33.4 million industrial estate

Jacfin Pty Ltd seeks approval from the Department of Planning for a concept plan to establish a $33.4 million industrial and employment estate, on 93.5 hectares at Horsley Park. The application is on public exhibition until May 9.

Parramatta. $51.9 million proposal in the CBD

Parramatta City Council has on public exhibition an application by Nationwide News for a $51.9 million staged redevelopment of two lots at 142 Macquarie Street in premises occupied by the Parramatta Advertiser. Stage 1 would be the construction of a 6-storey retail/commercial building with a floor area of 16,407 square metres fronting George Street, now used as a car park. Stage 2 seeks a conceptual approval for the construction of a commercial/retail building with a floor area of 37,873 square metres. The application is on public exhibition until April 20.

Parramatta. Proposal to close laneway

Parramatta City Council has resolved to close a laneway, classified as a public road, at 53 Phillip Street, in the CBD and create an easement for services and public access three metres wide. A council report in December 2010 said a developer had sought to purchase the laneway for outdoor dining as part of a proposed 12-storey hotel on 51 Phillip Street. He was advised the land’s value was considered to be in the vicinity of $650,000. A final price would be determined when council was in a position to sell.

Region. Transport is the key issue

Transport is the key issue underpinning quality of life, wellbeing and productivity in Western Sydney. The real challenge is to integrate much needed transport solutions with land use planning, employment growth, environmental sustainability and health outcomes, said Clr Alison McLaren, president of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC), when congratulating Premier Barry O’Farrell, on appointing himself minister for Western Sydney.

Bankstown. Extension of draft masterplan

Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown today announced it has received an extension to lodge a revised draft master plan on or before 15 February 2013, following the rejection of the 2010 Draft Master Plan, said airport CEO, Colin Grove. “We are most appreciative that Minister Albanese has agreed with our request for the extension as the process is quite extensive. Planning has already commenced for the preparation of the preliminary version of the draft master plan.
