Region. $40 million housing package

Minister for Housing and Minister for Western Sydney, David Borger, said a funding package worth almost $40 million would allow low income families to buy a home, revitalise public housing and improve the quality of life for the local communities in Rosemeadow and Ambarvale. He said the package includes $9.89 million to develop homes and building lots that would be sold to owner-occupiers, particularly first homeowners at a discounted price and a further $30 million to upgrade and renovate public housing.

Region. Owners breathing easier

Owners of industrial property are seeing signs of rents increasing as speculative building ceased with the global financial crisis. “Normally there would be in excess of five new 10,000-square-metre buildings a year added to the Western Sydney market but in 08-09, no new buildings have been started,” said Joshua Charles, of CB Richard Ellis, in The Sydney Morning Herald. All 2009 stock was gone, he said.
