Kellyville. Keen bidding for residential site

Receiver Ferrier Hodgson sold a 2-hectare residential development site in Kellyville for $2.8 million at auction. Colliers International had 71 bids from seven parties.

Region. Signing pays off in publicity

The signing of the Brisbane Bronco’s Isreal Folau by Greater Western Sydney and the AFL, on a package believed to be worth about $3.6 million, has paid off in much sought after publicty for the Western Sydney team, according to AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou. He said Folau had generated more than $9 million worth of publicity for the game since his decision to cross codes from rugby league, announced last month. The figure come from an independent media review. The GWS team is expected to enter the AFL competition in 2012.

Sydney Olympic Park. $32 million project

The government has approved a $32 million project on Site 13, at Sydney Olympic Park, which boasts two commercial office buildings of five and four storeys. The Minister for Western Sydney, David Borger said the buildings would accommodate around 600 full-time workers and a further45 jobs during construction. The Minister for Planning, Tony Kelly, said the proponent, OD Partnership, made a number of amendments to the proposal after community consultation, including reducing the bulk and scale of the proposal, in particular, the gross floor area and building footprint.

Penrith. $68.6 million tender won

Construction company, Laing O'Rourke, has won a $68.6million tender to complete the next stage of the Nepean Hospital redevelopment which would include new operating theatres, intensive-care facilities and surgical wards. This follows the redevelopment of the $11million north block which contains facilities for aged care, rehabilitation and stroke patients. The estimate for the complete refurbishment works is $138million, with funding from the state and federal governments. Current building work is expected to be finished next year.

Region. Swiss company seeks applicant

The Swiss-based company, Holcim, has advertised for an operations manager to be based in Western Sydney. The successful applicant will report to the GM NSW Aggregates. In 2009, Holcim expanded its Australian business through the acquisition of Cemex Australia, now Holcim Australia, a company with countrywide operations in the aggregates, ready-mix concrete and concrete products business. The acquisition enabled Holcim to include Australia in its strategy of expanding its aggregates and ready-mix concrete business in mature markets.
