Penrith. $8 million extension

Nepean Hospital has announced plans for an $8 million extension and upgrade to its oral health centre.Construction, which will by handled by Donnelly Constructions, at Castle Hill, is expected to be completed by March. When complete, Nepean will have the state’s third largest centre for general, emergency and specialist dental care and will be able to expand services to children and adults in Penrith, the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury.

Penrith. $68.6 million tender won

Construction company, Laing O'Rourke, has won a $68.6million tender to complete the next stage of the Nepean Hospital redevelopment which would include new operating theatres, intensive-care facilities and surgical wards. This follows the redevelopment of the $11million north block which contains facilities for aged care, rehabilitation and stroke patients. The estimate for the complete refurbishment works is $138million, with funding from the state and federal governments. Current building work is expected to be finished next year.

Penrith. $6 million for new hospital beds

Nepean Hospital has received $6 million for 26 beds which will be operational from July 1 this year. The new beds will operate across a range of medical and surgical specialties. Recruitment has commenced for 49 full-time equivalent staff to complement the new beds, including 29 nurses and four medical staff. Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury, said the new beds would build on the $138 million redevelopment currently underway to deliver world-class facilities at the hospital.

Penrith. $138 million hospital project

The NSW Government has given planning approval for the latest stage of the $138 million redevelopment of the Nepean health campus, including a refurbished and expanded intensive care unit ward and new three-level hospital building, The project includes six additional operating theatres and pre- and post-operative areas, extra day only and extended day only beds, two new purpose-built 30-bed surgical wards to replace older style existing wards and a new 12-bed intensive care pod including six additional ICU beds. The project has the potential to create some 150 construction jobs.

Penrith. Proposed hospital project

The Penrith Health Campus Redevelopment project, at Nepean Hospital, is on public exhibition until October 26. The project comprises: a new east block to include an ambulatory procedure centre, 33 day beds and 60 overnight beds, level 1 car park; expansion and refurbishment of the existing north block to provide additional intensive care unit services; increasing renal dialysis stations in the west block; and associated engineering services, car parking, landscaping and site works.

Penrith. Hospital has new $2.1 million unit

Nepean Hospital has a new $2.1 million medical assessment unit which will deliver improved health services for seniors and people with chronic diseases and reduce the pressure on the emergency department. The unit is staffed by up to 30 specialist doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who will be able to offer the patient individual assessment and treatment earlier than was previously possible.
