Dairy Farmers is for sale
The 108-year-old co-operative, Dairy Farmers, headquartered at Sydney Olympic Park, is expected to fetch between $650 and $800 million when it is put up for sale in mid-February. Four probable purchasers are National Foods, Goodman Fielder, Fontana, in New Zealand, and Murray Goulburn. Several overseas buyers are interested.
Dairy Farmers, was founded on January 15, 1900, with its suppliers mainly in the Illawarra area. Today 2300 farmer shareholders own it. The company has depots at Lidcombe and Wetherill Park and elsewhere in NSW, with branches in SA, Vic, ACT and Qld.
