Region. Merger of racing clubs

By some accounts, the NSW government has offered the asset-rich AJC and STC racing clubs grants worth as much as $160 million - plus another $50 million in loans - to bring off the deal to revitalise racing in NSW, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. NSW Racing Minister, Kevin Greene, said negotiations were under way and no decision had been made. There has been long-term resistance to a merger from within the clubs.This is a critical time for the state's racing industry, which creates $3.5 billion a year in wagering turnover, employs 50,000 people and generates $433 million for state and federal revenue, the paper said.

Region. New head of health service

Heather Gray, former chief executive, of Greater Southern Area Health Service, based in the ACT, has been appointed head of the Sydney West Area Health Service. Ms Gray, who has held senior positions in South Australia and regional NSW, replaces Professor Steven Boyages who has resigned.

North Rocks. Property sold for $18.1 million

Over Fifty Group’s property division, Century Funds Management, has sold a 12,145-square-metre warehouse distribution facility, at Loyalty Road, North Rocks, to a private investor for $18.1 million. The property is leased to Officeworks, until August 2018, providing a net income of $1.5 million annually. Jones LangLaSalle negotiated the sale.

Region. Rollout of $50 million network

EnergyAustralia, which has conducted trials of its fourth generation wireless network in suburbs including Lidcombe and Homebush over the past two years, will commence the rollout of its $50 million 4G network to Sydney suburbs, including Leightonfield and Bass Hill, within three months and to about 140 locations over the next 18 months.
