Region. Local man heads development body

Clr Alan Pendleton has been appointed chairman of Regional Development Australia (RDA) – Sydney. The new RDA network, in NSW, replaces the Australian Government’s 14 Area Consultative Committees and the NSW Government’s 13 Regional Development Boards to create a more comprehensive and coordinated network of 14 RDA committees. Alan Pendleton, a councillor with Blacktown City Council, was chairman, of the now-dissolved Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board, located in Parramatta.

Auburn. Administrator has 45 days to save jobs

Trade creditors have given Peter J Hedge, of Hedge and Associates, administrator of Cumberland Industries Limited (CIL), headquartered at Auburn, 45 business days from July 1 to save the company’s remaining four core businesses. When CIL went into voluntary liquidation it employed 540 disabled people in eight operations across Western Sydney, plus a support staff of 170.
