Marsden Park. First tenants in 2012

The first tenants in the 256-hectare Sydney Business Park are expected to move in by 2012. The park is part of the 551-hectare Marsden Park industrial precinct, which will become on of Sydney‘s largest masterplanned commercial, industrial, bulky goods and residential communities. It is being developed by the Wearn, Singh and White families’Marsden Park Developments, on land owned by the private company, Ganian.

Parramatta. Dr Kerry Schott to head audit

Dr Kerry Schott, a former investment banker and deputy secretary, of the NSW Treasury, and the outgoing MD, of Sydney Water, will, as commissioner, head an audit of NSW government services to drive reforms.. A preliminary report is expected in December.

Sydney Olympic Park. New $46 m substation

Ausgrid plans to build a new zone substation worth approximately $46 million, in Sydney Olympic Park. Work is planned to start in August 2011 and be completed by mid 2013. The substation will facilitate future development as proposed under Sydney Olympic Park’s Master Plan 2030. It will allow Ausgrid to meet the increasing electricity demand for the area’s growing business and residential community.

Penrith. Request to be exempt

Penrith City Council is asking the Minister for Planning, Brad Hazzard, to exempt it from a cap that would cause a $46 million shortfall in infrastructure funds for new subdivisions in the planned Werrington Enterprise Living and Learning Precinct. While the council says the precinct is ready to provide lots, the sticking point is ensuring essential infrastructure will be provided.

Eastern Creek. Two-part raceway upgrade

Work has begun on the first stage of a two-part redevelopment of Eastern Creek International Raceway. Future development works are scheduled to begin later in 2011. The raceway’s 3.93 km track hosts the V8 Supercars and A1 Grand Prix each year. “Eastern Creek is the only permanent race circuit in Sydney and the only FIA category two-level circuit in Australia. The financial support provided by the NSW state government has meant that we can increase our capacity to better serve the motorsport-hungry Sydney public,” said raceway CEO, Glenn Matthews.

Sydney Olympic Park. Strong membership

The Sydney Olympic Park Business Association (SOBPA) has over 60 member organisations with a combined number of employees in excess of 6500, equating to approximately 70 per cent of the total number of people working in the park SOBPA was formed in May 2000 in order to provide a common voice in dealing with issues relating to the future of Sydney Olympic Park.
