Parramatta. $65 million office building in CBD

Eureka 2 Project 10 proposes the construction of a 58-metre high commercial office tower on a vacant 3656-square-metre site, in CBD's corporate precinct. The 14-storey building, at 109-113 George Street, with frontages also to Argus Lane and Union Street, has a gross floor area of 24,129 square metres and footplates of 1500 square metres. It would contain 13 floors of commercial office space, ground floor café and up to six retail tenancies, with basement parking for 147 vehicles. It will also include 71 secure bicycle spaces plus 29 publicly available spaces. The estimated cost of construction is $65 million.

Guildford. Aldi supermarket gets the OK

German discount supermarket group, Aldi, has approval from Parramatta City Council to build a supermarket, on a former car yard, on the corner of Oxford Street and Woodville Road, Guildford. He estimated cost of construction is $6.6 million.

Parramatta. Approval to increase tower height

Becton Marsden has council approval to increase the height of its 16-storey mixed-use retail and commercial project, on the corners of Macquarie, Marsden and Hunter streets, in the Parramatta CBD, from 54 metres to 67.1 metres, an increase on 1.8 metres. The gross floor area increases by 4702 square metres, or 12.8 per cent.

Westmead. Private hospital expansion

The application by Ramsey Health Care demolish a child care centre and construct a three-level extension to Westmead Private Hospital, has been approved by Parramatta City Council. The extension will include an oncology ward on the ground level, a 39-bed maternity ward on the second level and a 38-bed general ward on the third level. Additional parking will be 52 cars will be included in the project. The estimated construction cost is $15.3 million.

St Marys. ADI draft on public exhibition

The Department of Planning has on public exhibition a draft amendment to the regional plan applying to the former ADI munitions site at St Marys. The amendment seeks to relocate the Western and Ropes Creek Precinct Employment Zones to consolidate with the Central Precinct Employment Zone, to review the range of permissible uses in the employment zones and to ensure better access and linkages from the Dunheved Industrial Estate to the Central Precinct Employment Lands. Submissions will be received up to November 17,

North Ryde. Project with end value of $350m

The GPT Group and Macquarie University Property Investment Trust propose commercial development, at Macquarie University, with an end value of about $350 million. The project is on the so-called Station Site, which is adjacent to Macquarie University Research Park and Macquarie station, on the Chatswood-Epping rail link. The site has the capacity to deliver more than 70,000 square metres commercial space on a about 25,000 square metres.

Parramatta. Review of refusal sought

Southern Cross Enterprises has asked Parramatta City Council to review its refusal to grant an application for the redevelopment of a heritage-listed church and adjacent hall, on the corner of Palmer and Church Streets, in the CBD. The application was for the demolition of the existing heritage-listed church hall, restoration of the heritage-listed church for use as a restaurant/bar and construction of a 13-storey hotel, containing 50 rooms, conference facilities, gym, pool and bar over basement parking for 54 vehicles. The application was deemed not in the public interest.

Parramatta. $100m office tower in the CBD

St Hilliers Property proposes a $100 million commercial development in Parramatta, to be known as the Exchange building, at 2 Fitzwilliam Street, with a frontage to Argyle Street. The 13-storey, A-grade building will be constructed on a 2579-square-metre site opposite the new Parramatta Transport Interchange and in close proximity to the proposed $1.4 billion Civic Place redevelopment. Approximately 100 car spaces along with motorcycle and cycle spaces are proposed on three basement levels as well as associated shower and change room facilities.Construction of the building is expected to commence in May 2009 and is expected to take 20 months to be completed.
