Kurrajong. Resaturant wins an award

Lochiel House, located on Bell’s Line of Road, at Kurrajong Heights, a sandstone cottage, built in 1825 by former convict Joseph Douglas and operated as a restaurant since 1994, was named regional restaurant of the year, at the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide awards.

Parramatta. Plan axed

A plan from the former Labor government to build an arts precinct in Sydney’s west at the former Kings School site at Parramatta has been axed, in the State Budget, which confirms that Parramatta Gaol will be closed.

Erskine Park. Entry to Chinese market

The first priority of Bright Foods, China’s second-largest food company is to gain entry of Manassen Foods, based at Erskine Park, into the Chinese market, said chairman, Wang Zongnan, following Bright Foods’ acquisition of 75 per cent equity stake in Australia’s leading independent grocery importer. The deal, struck for an undisclosed sum but reported to value Manassen at about $530 million, is Bright Food's biggest foray outside China. The remaining 25 per cent shareholding in Manassen Foods will be retained by its current shareholders, including Roy Manassen, CHAMP Private Equity funds management, and members of the current senior management team.

Hoxton Park. Mega-distribution centre

Hardware wholesaler, Danks Holdings, part of Woolworths Home Timber and Hardware business, will share space in the second Masters mega-distribution centre to be built at Hoxton Park The first has opened in Victoria.
