New $220 million facility for new trains

A $220 million maintenance facility is under construction, at Auburn, in preparation for the launch, in 2010, of CityRail’s new air-conditioned trains. During construction, 250 jobs will be created and around 100 maintenance staff will be required in the long-term to service the 626 new trains. CityRail said the trains represent the largest public-private partnership contract ever entered into in Australia.
