Auburn. US retailer plans store

US discount retailer, Costco Wholesale, is seeking planning approval to establish a14,000-square-metre store on Parramatta Road, at Auburn. The retailer was also looking at sites elsewhere in Sydney, where it ultimately plans to build three or four stores, The Australian Financial Review reported. Costco expects to open a store in Melbourne next month.

Bankstown. New businesses at airport

Five new businesses commenced operation at Bankstown Airport in the second quarter 2009. Also, 45 new aviation operators used aviation facilities, up from34 in the previous quarter. “Our aviation business park continues to grow and our vacancy rate remains below 1 per cent of our total lettable area. Over the next six months we will be releasing new sites suitable for aviation businesses and as we develop our Master Plan, we will be looking at devoting more land to aviation activities,” a spokesperson said.
