Cabramatta. Auction of retail arcade

A shopping arcade in the Cabramatta city centre containing 27 specialty shops will be auctioned by CBRE on October 19. The arcade, which is located in a thriving Asian retail precinct, has 57-basement car spaces and is adjacent to a Fairfield City Council car park providing approximately 679 spaces. Net passing income is approximately $1.05 million

Region. Warehousing push in the outer west

CBRE’s Sydney Industrial MarketView said a notable trend is the push from tenants to consolidate multiple sites under one roof to improve efficiency. To do this warehousing operations have need to move to the outer west to find large lots of industrial land. Over 200,000 square metres of new industrial space was pre-committed over the year to June 2010 by the retail sector, all of which is located in the outer west. “The next six months will see a limited and very strategic return to speculative building of warehousing in Western Sydney,”said CBRE regional director, industrial, logistics and investments, Joshua Charles, in The Australian Financial Review.

Campbelltown. BoQ wins in Federal Court

The Federal Court has dismissed the claim by Leicester and Kim Ramsey’s company Astram Financial Services, which held the franchise of the Bank of Queensland (BoQ) branch, at Campbelltown. The claim was the BoQ misrepresented the owner-manager into believing he could achieve a monthly turnover of $4 million within a year of opening the branch. Astram’s five-year contract with BoQ involved an upfront fee of $80,000 and a monthly licence of $1000 after the first year.

Parramatta. Council wins top award

Parramatta City Council has been recognised for outstanding excellence and innovation after winning the award for Excellence in Leadership and Innovation – Metropolitan Councils, for its services review project, which commenced in late 2009 and is aimed at improving performance across all 41 of its business areas. The award was presented at the annual Local Government Management Association NSW Management Excellence Awards.

Telopea. OK for $580 million concept plan

Minister for Housing, Frank Terenzini has approved the concept plan for the $580-million Telopea Urban Renewal Project. He said redevelopment of the 11-hectare Housing NSW estate would provide a substantial new supply of public and private housing close to existing infrastructure and services. Final approval was given by Planning Minister Tony Kelly who also confirmed project approval for stage one of the project – the $48-million three-block development consisting of 152 public housing apartments. Once the site was fully developed in about ten years time, it would have capacity for up to 1900 dwellings, up from the current 531 The dwellings will be 70 per cent privately owned to 30 per cent social housing, Construction would create 275 jobs. A development partner would be sought in 2011.

Regon. $30,000 infrastructure levies

Planning for more some 1700 housing lots in Western Sydney is expected to resume following the NSW government’s decision to outline which councils across the region are eligible to apply infrastructure levies of up to $30,000 per lot. Minister for Planning, Tony Kelly, said Blacktown, Camden, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Liverpool, Penrith and The Hills council were eligible.

Glenfield. EOI called for rail line

The Transport Construction Authority is calling for expressions of interest for project management, commercial management and schedule management services contractors within the integrated project delivery team for the management of the Glenfield to Leppington rail line design and construction contract.
