Tenders called for fish ladder

Parramatta City Council has called for tenders for the construction of a vertical lock and associated works (fish ladder) at the Marsden Street Weir, on the Parramatta River, to allow fish to swim upstream to breed. Fish ladders have been installed at the Charles Street Weir and in Parramatta Park.

Primary data centre moves to Parramatta

The NSW Attorney-General’s Department has moved its primary data centre from the Sydney CBD and a secondary centre at Redfern to Parramatta following the relocation of its head office and 1400 staff to the city. Around 150 computers servers were moved to the building in the $330 million Parramatta Justice Precinct. The department also updated its telephony system to internet telephony, or VoIP.

Wide Bay makes a modest profit

The Queensland-based Wide Bay Building Society, which has its only NSW branch in Parramatta, has posted a modest rise in first-half profit of $8.2 million to December 31; a rise of 2.08 per cent. The company sources almost three-quarters of its business in Queensland.
