Parramatta. $70.6 million project

The Department of Planning has approved a project application by Webb Property Investments for the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a 14 storey commercial building with ground floor café, 12 levels of office space and 4 levels of basement car parking, at 89 George Street, in the Parramatta CBD. Estimated capital investment value: $70.6 million.

South West. Land for rail link

The Department of Planning has spent $128 million on all land acquired for the South-West Rail Link. Seventy-five parcels of land have been transferred to the Transport Construction Authority for building the rail link. A spokesman for the department said that a total of 23 parcels of land were compulsorily acquired at Leppington and Edmondson Park, while 37 were acquired by negotiation.

Liverpool. Operational by June

The $50 million, state-of-the-art Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research is expected to be open and operational by June 2012. Established in 1996, the institute is a collaboration between the health services in South Western Sydney, UNSW and UWS.
