Bankstown. $18.8 million contract

Watpac Construction has been awarded an $18.8 million contract to build a 5000-square-metre library and knowledge centre, including a 300-seat theatre, in Bankstown. Work is expected to commence in September.

Parramatta. Nine-storey building

G M Architects has lodged a DA with Parramatta City Council for the construction of a 9-storey mixed use with ground floor office & commercial space, 3 levels of basement car parking and comprising 72 residential dwellings, at 2 Sorrell Street. Estimated Cost:.$17.5 million.

Menangle. $57 million biosecurity facility

NSW Premier and Minister for Western Sydney, Barry O’Farrell ,and Minister for Primary Industries, Katrina Hodgkinson, opened Australia’s most modern biosecurity laboratory located at the NSW Government’s Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI), at Menangle, built at a cost $57 million.

Parramayya. 200,000 square metres needed

Some 200,000 square metres of office space would be required to accommodate the 10,000 additional workers which Parramatta City Council aims to attract to the city over the next five years.
