Parramatta. In principle support for rail link

Parramatta City Council has given in principle support for the $8.3 billion West Metro underground rail link between Central and Westmead. Council’s submission, on the preliminary environmental assessment, includes traffic impact on James Ruse Drive from the proposed park and ride facilities at Camellia station, future strategy for the Carlingford line, and the integration of Parramatta station and Civic Place, under which a metro station is proposed.

Parramatta. Praise but no proof

An independent review of the expenditure, activities and outputs of Parramatta City Council’s economic development team, for 2008/09, praised the quality of an extensive range of activities which were undertaken for a “modest” expenditure, but noted no link was evident which “proves how much or how far economic development outputs drive growth outcomes”. Expenditure in 2008/09 was $405,000 plus staff costs of $409,000.

Parramatta. Approval of UWS masterplan

A masterplan to guide the future development of the University of Western Sydney’s Rydalmere campus has been approved by Parramatta City Council. The masterplan includes student accommodation, additional teaching facilities, pedestrian access linking the north and south precincts of the campus and development along Victoria Road and James Ruse Drive to a height of three and four storeys
