West Ryde. Pfizer fined a record $200,000
Pfizer Australia, with its head office at West Ryde, has been fined a record $200,000, for breaching Medicines Australia Code of Conduct. In March 2008, AstraZeneca lodged a formal complaint alleging breaches of the code. Pfizer’s internal investigations revealed that nine representatives may have made some statements of the kind alleged by AstraZeneca. No senior manager at Pfizer Australia was aware that the conduct was taking place, Pfizer said. The Code of Conduct Committee found Pfizer in breach of the code, fined the company and ordered it to issue a corrective letter to healthcare professionals in Queensland and NSW.
