Penrith. Jack Thompson at celebrations

Penrith-based JK Williams, which specialised in civil engineering, industrial and residential sub-divisions, will support community events to celebrate the 1813 crossing of the Blue Mountains, next year. Penrith City Council will host the bicentenary celebrations, which will include a re-enactment trek, a family camp out, and an historical festival. The Australian actor, Jack Thompson will participate.

Region. Airports are the solution

“Badgerys Creek and Richmond are the solution to Sydney’s airport growth, along with Mascot expansion, but Western Sydney businesses and residents should not be condemned to leafy suburbs with no jobs,” Christopher Brown, chairman of the Parramatta Economic Development Forum, said at the Re-Thinking Sydney seminar, at the Sydney Opera House.

Region.Coalition on second airport

The federal Coalition will engage with the Gillard government on proposals for a second airport in the Sydney Basin when a detailed plan is produced, Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, in The Australian Financial Review. Mr Abbott, who has not ruled out a second Sydney airport under a Coalition government, said the federal government needed to stop “posturing” and release a proposal.
