Sydney Olympic Park. GPT Green Star

The GPT Group has received a 6 Star Green Star - Office Design v2 certified rating for its 12,000-square-metre development, at 5 Murray Rose at Sydney Olympic Park. Developed to world's leading practice, the $60 million development, which is the first stage of GPT's $200 million Murray Rose Business Park, features a solar installation that will contribute 25 per cent of the base-building's peak load, making it the largest solar installation in an Australian commercial building of this scale.

Parramatta. Sustainable awards

Parramatta-based Sydney Water and Keep Australia Beautiful are in partnership to recognise and reward communities in their efforts to protect and enhance their environment. One of the activities, the Sustainable Cities Awards program recognises and celebrates outstanding environmental initiatives implemented by local government authorities, schools, businesses and community groups whilst raising public awareness of a range of environmental issues affecting metropolitan NSW. The program assists communities to foster a strong spirit and develop real pride in their local environment.

Parramatta. Award to council manager

Parramatta City Council’s group manager, outcomes and development, Sue Weatherley, has been awarded the Ministers’ Award for Women in Local Government. Established as part of International Women’s Day, in 2008, the awards program is judged by a panel and recognises outstanding contributions and achievements made by women in the NSW local government sector

Region. Deals done on warehouses

Tyrolit Australia relocates from Rockdale to Smithfield after buying a 1282-square-metre warehouse for $1.84 million. Kings Century has paid $11.73 million for 10,011-square-metre warehouse, at Ingleburn. A private investor has paid $6.9 million for a 23,570-square metre office and warehouse, at Regents Park.

Sydney Olympic Park. Manufacturing Week

The 2012 National Manufacturing Week will be held at Sydney Showground, on May 8-11.The event will be co-located with Austech, and will include technology, innovation and education streams reflecting the central theme, essential strategies, tools and methodologies for Australian manufacturers.
