Auburn. Costco to invest $55.4 million

Costco, the giant US wholesale retailer, is set to muscle in on Sydney’s bulky goods sector, with a $55.4 million head office and three-storey warehouse in Auburn. The company plans at least five outlets for metropolitan Sydney, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Blue Mountains. Proposal to search for gas

Sydney minerals company, Pangea Resources, has applied to the NSW Government for a licence to prospect for coal-seam gas covering thousands of square kilometres in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The Minister for Mineral Resources, Ian Macdonald, told The Sydney Morning Herald the proposal was being considered but legislation prohibiting mining inside national parks would be adhered to.

Catherine Field. Oran Park may be sold

The Valad Property group is believed to be putting Oran Park, at Catherine Field, a 107-hectare subdivision in southwest Sydney, on the market, according to The Australian. Valad bought the site for $19 million, in 2006, for a residential project.
