Streets renamed to boost tourism

Blacktown City Council has renamed Reen Road, Prospect, to Peter Brock Drive and Auto Place as part of the development of a Motor Sports Parklands in Eastern Creek with Investa Property Group. The renaming changes include renaming part of Reen Road to Peter Brock Drive and the renaming of another section of Reen Road to Auto Place. Council objects to see off of aerodrome

Blacktown City Council has expressed concerns at the announcement by the Department of Defence calling for tenders for the sale of the Schofields Aerodrome. Mayor Leo Kelly, OAM said that Council had not been formally consulted by the Department of Defence about the sale of the old aerodrome site prior to tenders being called. "Given that the area is currently specially zoned for Commonwealth purposes, it will be necessary for the Commonwealth to pursue rezoning of the site with the NSW Growth Centres Commission and in consultation with Council", said Mayor Kelly, who noted noted significant areas of the site were subject to flooding, which wouldl impose restrictions as to what could be developed.
