Region. Running time of trains

A report obtained by The Sydney Morning Herald shows that during the 7.30am-8.30am peak hour for trains on the Western line, 90 per cent of trains run on time if based on a five-minute measure. But on a three-minute measure the proportion drops to 66 per cent; on a two-minute measure it drops to 46 per cent; and on a one-minute measure it drops to 21 per cent.

Eastern Creek. $200 million centre opened

Hewlett-Packard has opened its $200 million Aurora Data Centre at Eastern Creek. The first phase of the facility offers 2500 square metres of technical floorspace to major clients that include Origin Energy, Downer and Elders Australia. The company also unveiled its future plans to build up to 12,500 square metres of floorspace at the high-security site to offer government and private sector greater cloud and managed services.

Blue Mountains. $30 million upgrade

Scenic World has committed to the largest tourist attraction investment in the history of the Blue Mountains with a $30 million redevelopment of the world’s steepest incline railway. The team delivering the project, scheduled to open in December, includes Swiss specialist railway designers, Garaventa, and Australian architects, project managers and builders.

LIverpool. City wants more jobs

Liverpool Mayor, Wendy Waller, wants to see more government departments such as Businesslink, Housing NSW and Department of Community Services to move into the city. Ms Waller said Liverpool had about 4500 government employees in the CBD including the hospital, schools, TAFE, DOCs and Housing NSW. The council will write to Premier Barry O'Farrell seeking confirmation of his government's commitment to Liverpool as a regional city. “We need to do more about promoting ourselves as a regional city,” she said.
