Fairfield. $100 million project on track

Construction of the $100 million a water treatment plant, in Fairfield, is on track and will operational by mid-2011,'' according to Water Minister Phil Costa. Recycled water will be distributed to businesses in the Smithfield and Rosehill areas through a 20km network of disused gas pipes. The project, one of the biggest in the state is part of the NSW Government’s Sydney Metropolitan Water Plan.

Wetherill Park. $11 million investment

The $11 million Bondor Sydney office and manufacturing plant, at Wetherill Park, will provide an additional 30 jobs. State manager, Adam Wade, said the new plant consolidated three factories into one. Bondor is a provider of thermal building solutions and lightweight architectural panels, and is partnered with HH Robertson, a supplier of architectural facades.

Prestons. $20 million warehouse

Swire Cold storage has opened a $20 million warehouse, its third on its site in Prestons, bringing the company’s total local investment to $60 million. The additional 50 workers brings the total employment to more than 100.

The Hills. Alive and booming

The Hills Shire Mayor, Peter Dimbrowsky, said the focus for 2010 was on planning for growth, attracting investment in jobs, creating homes and confirming its place as Sydney’s Garden Shire. Major infrastructure projects revolve around upgrading main town centres, including the beautification of Castle Hill’s main street. “Plans are now under way to create opportunities for Baulkham Hills and Carlingford to deliver thriving, living centres,” he said Another key direction for the council was positioning the Hills as a destination for tourists with new signature events being developed. The Hills economy is vauled at more than $15 billion.
