Parramatta. 'Victory for local activism'
Parramatta MP, Tanya Gadiel, welcomed the news that Premier Nathan Rees had listened to the Parramatta community and saved the Parramatta RiverCat service. “I have been calling for this for a long time with the support of the community and the thousands of people who signed my ‘Keep our boat afloat’ petition. This is a victory for local activism and it goes to show that if the community works together we can achieve great things,” she said. Ms Gadiel was referring to the decision by Mr Rees to re-introduce a peak hour service to Parramatta and to examine options for a commuter car park near the wharf at Charles Street.
