Parramatta. Vale Barry Baillie

Barry Baillie, CEO, of the Caravan and Camping Association, based at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, has passed away after contracted pneumonia and was unable to recover Mr Baillie had been a long standing Tourism Industry Council NSW board member for the last decade and deputy chairman for over half that time. Barry served on many industry and related bodies including the NSW Premier’s Department, chairman and CEO of the NSW Meat Industry Association, Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute and the Board of Trustees for the University of Western Sydney.

Region. Second airport report due

A federal and state government report into Sydney’s second airport has recommended urgent action for the construction of a second airport at Badgerys Creek or Wilton, according to The Daily Telegraph. The report will be handed to Transport Minister Anthony Albanese and the state government today

Region. UWS meeting demand

The University of Western Sydney has leapfrogged the University of Sydney to become NSW’s biggest provider of government-funded places, 26,419, and the second largest in the country after Monash University, 27,586. UWS has put about $200 million into its building program to meet the demand from school leavers and mature-age students in Western Sydney.
