Silverwater. Top exporter for 2012

RØDE Microphones, at Silverwater has been named the 2012 NSW Exporter of the Year, at the 2012 Premier’s NSW Export Awards. With more than 20 years’ experience, RØDE has become a leading manufacturer of microphones and accessories, distributing it products to 97 countries. Exports comprise 92 per cent of sales The company has 150 staff worldwide. The company was also presented with the Large Advanced Manufacturer Award



Norwest. Award for hotel

Crowne Plaza Norwest has been judged the best mid-sized hotel in Australia for accommodation, bt the Australian Hotels Association. A few months ago the hotel was crowned a winner at the Tourism Australia Accommodation Awards..



Richmond. Passengers at RAAF Base

Infrastructure NSW’s 20-year strategy suggests that with the growth of Western Sydney a case could be put for a passenger airport at the RAAF Base Richmond for a period while a new second Sydney airport was under development.



Moorebank. Relocation approved

The federal government has approved the Moorebank Units Relocation project, which will result in the relocation of 13 army units and four defence facilities from Moorebank to Holsworthy, including the Australian Army's School of buildings, currently on the site of the proposed Moorebank Intermodal Terminal.



Hawkesbury. Cost of flooding

Infrastructure NSW, in its 20-year strategy, has recommended the state government invest $500 million over five years in a flood mitigation plan for the Hawkesbury Nepean. A study has found that a flood similar to the one in some Queensland catchments in 2011 would cause $8 billion in damage. It would put 43,000 residents and 9000 employees of local businesses at risk, flood 14,000 homes above floor height and destroy 6500 homes.
