Bankstown. Demand for hanger space

Recent demand for hangar space has prompted Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown to investigate the construction of new hangars, in a range of sizes and designs, to suit aircraft from small singles to large corporate jets. Sites are being identified and designs commissioned.

Region. Students do well in IT competition

UWS IT students achieved second place at the Australian final of Microsoft's Imagine Cup with their original web-based technology aimed at reducing bushfire hazards. Brent Wardlaw, Andras Mendik and Royston Bowmaker formed Team Xtreme for the competition and developed a new application called the Fire Location and Managing Environment (FLAME).

Regents Park. Abergeldie wins $10.4m contract

Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, in Regents Park, has won the $10.4 million civil works contract to build the concrete barriers, fences, pedestrian bridges and other capital works, for the three-day, V8 Supercar 500 event, around Sydney Olympic Park, in December. The work is expected to create 100 jobs.

Wetherill Park. Printing company in liquidation

Rainbow Printing Pty Ltd, in Wetherill Park, is for sale as a going concern, through liquidator, Chris Wykes, Lawler Partners. The company had a turnover of approximately $2.2 million for the 2008 financial year. The family-owned company has been in the printing industry for 30 years.
