North Ryde. Study unit for MBA students

The Macquarie Graduate School of Management has partnered with Seimens to provide a 10-week study unit called management consulting and research for MBA students. They will work in small groups on an issue of strategic importance to Seimens’s business future.

Region. Road widening, upgrade in Budget

$25 million has been earmarked in Tuesday’s State Budget to complete construction of the joint-funded F5 Freeway widening between Ingleburn and Campbelltown, and $15 million will be spent on the four-lane upgrade of Camden Valley Way between Cobbitty Rd and Narellan Rd. A further $16 million will be used to start construction of the Erskine Park Link Road. Mr O'Farrell intends to sell the budget as a boon for Western Sydney, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Region. Funds for transport

The NSW government will announce more than $2 billion over four years for the North West Rail Link in the state budget. This includes $314 million in funds this year and it means the state government is getting on with the project with or without federal funding, News Limited reported on Monday. Tuesday's budget will also provide more than $1 billion over four years to continue construction of the South West Rail Link between Glenfield and Leppington, according to The Australian.

Schofields. New residnetial block

NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure have unveiled its plans to create a new residential community for about 10,000 people in Schofields. Deputy director general, Ian Reynolds said the 465-hectare Schofields Precinct includes a mix of urban areas, grazing land and the former aerodrome site. He said the precinct would be supported by the new railway station at Schofields as part of the Quakers Hill to Richmond Rail Duplication Project.

Liverpool. 200 researchers at work

More than 200 researchers are currently working at the $50 million, state-of-the-art Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, which is a year away from completion, in the grounds of Liverpool Hospital. The institute is the realisation of chicken king Bob Ingham's dream to establish a research facility to rival any in the world; the first tentative steps were taken 15 years ago.

Ingleburn. Government buys army camp

The NSW government has bought the former Ingleburn army camp as part of the proposed South-West Rail Link. The 300-hectare site will also be used to develop land for almost 3000 new homes, as part of Landcom’s Edmondson Park development.
