First solar-powered CityRail station

Werrington station, on the Western Line in Sydney’s outer west, is CityRail’s first solar-powered railway station. The $5.4 million upgrade of the station included the installation of photovoltaic cells that can potentially contribute up to 40 per cent of the station’s electricity to power lights, drive lifts and airconditioning. “It is hoped these hi-tech cells will help effectively manage energy consumption at Werrington and potentially other stations in the future,” said the Minister for Transport, John Watkins.

High school students consider aviation careers

Over 600 high school students made their way through the Aviation Careers Expo, at Bankstown Airport, at which over 20 exhibitors, keen to express the exciting aspects of what a job in the aviation industry would offer, participated. This is the second year the event has been run. Due to the success of the previous years, events like this would remain a permanent fixture on the aviation industry and high school's calendars, an airport spokesperson said
